For Silk Screen Printing Can I Just Use Ink On A Transparency?
I Have Some Transparencies And Have Been Wanting To Get Into Silk Screen Printing, But I Don'T Have One Of The Printers For Doing It, So I Have To Make My Designs On There By Hand. Can I Just Use Regular Black Ink Like Used With Dipping Pens? Or No?
If So, Could Someone Please Tell Me What To Use?

Thank You

You need actual silk screening ink. It's more viscous than pen ink — more like pudding. Search for silk screening ink on the Internet and you'll find many suppliers. It's also available at Michael's.

Where Can I Get Some White T-Shirts In Bulk ?
I Am Making Pesonalized Shirts For Daycare And I Need To Find Some Cheap White Shirts In A Bulk. Also, Where Can I Find Cheap Iron-On Transfers ?

As Jena suggested, try Michaels craft store for the transfers. While you're there, look for the Jerzees tee shirt display. They often have them on sale – 2 for $5.

Otherwise check the sunday papers for sales. Maybe your local Big Lots, Family Dollar, or other stores like that may have tees even cheaper.

You can also buy the blank transfer sheets at Office Max or Office Depot. Some discount stores also have them near the computer paper. Design something on your computer, print it on the sheet, then iron it on. The instructions are on the package.

Custom T-Shirts Printing?
What Do You Now About Today’s Custom T-Shirt Printing Or Custom Clothing?

T shirt printing covers many parameters nowadays.
We are a screen print company who can print direct, however we can now transfer print, heat press and apply a flex material.
Other options available are embroidery and fairly new on the scene direct to garment inkjet printers.
It all depends on the quantity and complexity of the design, for anything over 50 shirts screen printing direct is still usually the best option.

What Is A Silk Screen Kit?
I'Ve Heard Of These…And I Know They'Re Really Expensive. But You Can Make T-Shirts With Them, Right? How Do They Work? And Is It Hard To Make Your Own Kit?

There are several different ways to screen print shirts (the actual term. Nobody really uses silk anymore. The name just sticks). They got those cheap kits at Office Depot you can hook up to your printer. It's only 20 bucks but what you spend on ink and a compatible printer, tshirts, etc. it's not even cost effective and it's very limited on what it can do.

I REAL kit would be a 3-5 color process machine or highter (5' x 5' area or more) where the screens are on wooden frames and act kind of like stamps. Different designs per color (same shirt) and each shirt rotates in a circle to each frame. Each frame has a synthetic fiber sheet stretched tight, with a bunch of tiny holes where the paint passes through. You can squeegee it by hand or the machine can do it for you depending on what you have. It sounds like a tedious and long process because it is. You have to create and design through a special software too, then create the the physical design and film for your frames, print the shirts and makes sure everything is adjusted, and flash it, which just means passing it through the heating device to dry it out. It's a lot of work yes, but once you get into it you get hooked and obsessed with perfection. It's an art and you tend to think of yourself as a bad *** once you get it down and you see what you created on your own…lol

What'S The Difference Between Screen Printed Tees And Digital Printed Tees?
I'M Looking To Make T-Shirts For My Band, And Screen Printed Tees Are Much Cheaper To Buy In Bulk, But I'M Unsure Of The Quality… Anyone Know Anything About It? Please And Thanks (:

Screen printed tee shirts are far superior to digitally printed garments. Direct to garment or DTG, is a relatively new technology. It is a great method for smaller print runs with many colors in the image. With DTG there is very little set up or “pre press” to do. You simply send the image file to the garment printer and that’s that. The quality of the print will vary from machine to machine and operator to operator. But for small quantity orders where there is a complex multi color image, it is an economically feasible option.

Screen printing on the other hand has a lot of pre press activities and tends to only be practical on larger print runs. If you print a 1 to 3 color design, screen printing can be feasible. But when you want to print 5 colors on 12 shirts it becomes extraordinarily expensive. Screen printing is best for larger print runs in excess of 36 pieces. A 1 color print may be done easily on much smaller orders but most screen printers have a 1 dozen minimum order per color being printed.

In the end screen printing will give the better quality print, more vibrant colors, and it will have the best durability or longevity. It will be the most cost effective method on decent size print runs. DTG will be easier to do, much faster to set up, easy to do small quantities, and the color is very good when done right. The longevity or durability is still a matter of question for me. But proponents will argue it is just as good as screen printed garments for durability.
